final garment design & photos
"for my fash110 final project, we were tasked with creating a piece that is relevant to london. the first thing i noticed about the city was the gloom, the drabness. yet, creativity still shines bright in an extremely wet, cold, and dark city. london is a city where rain paints the streets in gold, its reflections mirroring the energy of the people who walk them. the gloom is not a shadow but a stage—one that amplifies creativity and expression. for me it was imperative that i recreate this scene.
the model is the main character, she is the moment as her light cuts through the darkness. the piece and stylistic elements represent the fluidity yet stark reflectiveness seen in the streets. furthermore, this outfit embodies london’s dynamic fashion scene. the corset represents craftsmanship mix with edge, while the red skirt, with its asymmetrical drape, echoes the city’s punk and underground influences. the metallic silver boots add a futuristic touch, much like london’s mix of heritage and innovation. the look channels the bold spirit of shoreditch and soho.
in london, the rain never stops, but neither does the art."
